Located in the heart of Boca Raton, right in the middle of Glades Road (west of I-95) is a brand new restaurant called Square One American Restaurant & Bar (SQ1). Executive Chef/owner Jon Greening (great Instagram follow) and owner Eric Clark have teamed up to open a brand new concept in the old Brewzzi’s space. These two culinary geniuses met while working together at Deck 84 in Downtown Delray Beach. In 2008, Chef Jon moved to South Florida where he started his professional relationship with The Rapoport’s Restaurant Group, which owns Deck 84 and other local restaurants.
Chef Jon worked as a sous chef, executive chef and eventually became corporate executive chef and managing partner for the company over a span of nearly 9 years. It was at Deck 84 where he and Eric formed both a friendship and working relationship that has now blossomed into them opening their very own restaurant together!
With the opening of SQ1, Jon and Eric have seemed to create the perfect mix of upscale and casual dining right here in Boca Raton. I could write an entire article about both Chef Jon and Eric’s previous experience and accolades, together they have been in the business for over 30 years! But as usual, I want the food and service to do all the talking for me. So enjoy the pictures and recap of the meal, but do yourself a favor and get in to SQ1 and judge for yourself!
At Square One, Chef Jon runs a scratch kitchen. From the basil oil he makes for the pizza crust to the daily handmade pasta he is pumping out, it all starts in his kitchen with the best ingredients he can find. Never frozen, always fresh and always local! Square One has something on the menu for everyone. Great spot for a business lunch, date night or happy hour!
