On Thursday, May 17th I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Stags’ Leap wine pairing dinner at NYY Steak at the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. This was not my first visit to NYY Steak, but it was my first wine pairing dinner here, and it DID NOT disappoint. Before I get to the incredible food and wine, I want to give a little bit of background on Chef Matthew Zappoli and Stags’ Leap Wine Cellars!
Matthew Zappoli is the Chef at NYY Steak, Seminole Casino Coconut Creek’s fine dining restaurant and steakhouse. He is responsible for the daily culinary operations, while overseeing a team of culinary professionals. Prior to his arrival at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, Zappoli worked for his mentor, Chef Charlie Palmer, at the popular Charlie Palmer Steak restaurant in the heart of New York City. Chef even competed on and became a champion on the Food Network’s Chopped show!
On one of California’s earliest wine estates (established in 1893), a unique terroir and ideal microclimate support a classical standard of viticulture, land use, and winemaking that is as relevant today as it was over a century ago. An intimate valley within the greater Napa Valley, Stags’ Leap is a place of natural beauty, storied buildings and gardens, a lively history, and a reputation for elegant wines showing finesse and intensity. I think Stags’ Leap is one of the best wines coming out of the Napa Valley region right now, that thought was cemented after trying these great wines with Chef Matthew’s incredible food.
